but I was expecting a bit better quality. The glaze is chipped on many of the pieces, but not from shipping damage. You can see that it's been fired with glaze missing or has broken/melted off. The plates are all "bubbly" in the middle, not smoothly finished. They're nice and hefty, and quite usable plus they have that pretty red color ... just not a set you'd put out for a special meal, but nice for day to day use.
