  • Must Read!

What a cool "coffee table" book! I'm only about halfway through, but have thoroughly enjoyed all of Hal's stories. Can't wait to finish the rest. And the pics are awesome too! If you like non-fiction and are into learning about fashion history from one of the industry's iconic superstars, this book is a must-read!

  • excellent!

This is a great read for anyone who loves fashion, design and movies. I have a design background and love to see how and where our trends come from. To me fashion is not as much about a "look" but the mood a look creates, projects and feels to the person wearing or viewing it.This clever book from Hal talks about this and gives insights into our fashion culture. It is a really fresh and enjoyable read! Great concept Hal thank you for brining this to us!Great gift for yourself, fashion friends, those who are interested in our social culture, even younger gals in their 20's to see that fashion has trends created today from history, all great design does!Hal you are the real deal, you know fashion, the history and understand how it works and how to give us fashion for our lifestyles! Thanks for this and congratulations on a great book! I bet your glamorous, in love, Mom & Dad would be so proud of you!

  • NICE!

I started reading it the minute I got it out of the box ... I love Hal's style of writing! I laughed out loud at his reviews of the movies in question ("Love Story" -- Oh man, that was funny!) which was almost a side dish to the discussion of the clothes! I thought I was the only one who thought one of the best-dressed and ridiculously coolest men on screen was Gene Kelly: I could watch him all day! Leafing through the book, I was thinking, maybe I'll read it through and donate it to the library .... Nah! ;-) I see notes will have to be made in the margins, and highlighting!

  • Nice Book BUT...

It's stories NOT enough fashion and not enough minorities in it that makeup America.

  • Disappointed

Got the book received it damaged. The corners were damaged like the book had been dropped several times. Will send back not sure if I will reorder. It would be a great gift or keeper if not damaged.
