  • The Best

Have been using a 4 thread Brother serger for quite a while but this serger works wonderfully. Now I know you are going to get frustrated trying to thread it but let me suggest that you go to YouTube and type in "how to thread Singer Professional 5 Thread Serger". There are several videos. Watch them more than once. I watched them every day for a week. Then I went back to the serger and threaded the first time and every time after. This seems to be most people's problem. Once you get past that you will thread the server with not much effort at all. Love this machine. Sorry that Singer didn't provide a DVD. The CD that comes with the serger is the manual you can print out.

  • I am SEW Amazed !

I Love this machine . You do HAVE to Read the book and Practice .But if you remember back when you started , bet you had to learn the machine . Its a breeze when you find the metal threader's , instaled in the machine . All I can say is this is a Quality Machine . It is mind blowing how many different style stitches it does . AND it turns into a flatbed sewing machine if you need it . This is a heavy Machine .I tried to take it on vacation and I could not lift it .But I am a little disabled in my arms . I just can not find anything I do not like about the stitches and versatility of it. For all of you who said they did not like it . I say read the book . I don't care if you have been sewing for 40 years and have 20 serger's You have to learn the machine ,You have to read the book and the downloadable cd, and spend time to learn it . If you need it to work as soon as you unwrap it ,get something else .

  • Great machine.

I am very pleased with my purchase. Just practice and it will be simple. I have never owned a serger also hadnt sewn in over 20 years. As long as you have patience it can be accomplished. Happy serging.

  • great machine

This machine is a workhorse! Like all sergers, there is a learning curve and some patience needed for threading. The manual and diagrams are helpful. It also helps to go through the workbook and set up machine for each and every stitch. I love this machine and have already completed several projects. Thank you HSN and Darlene!

  • Great Machine

This machine works like a dream! I highly recommend printing out the workbook and putting it into a binder to have alongside your machine which makes everything easier. The workbook and instruction manual walk you through threading and settings for any kind of stitch and I found it to be very easy. I researched a lot of sergers but I ultimately wanted one that had a cover stitch function. You won't find a better deal on a machine that has all the functions and included extras!

  • love this serger

Took awhile to learn how to thread the machine, but doable for a beginner who is patient and reads the manual and workbook on the CD. Hard part was learning how to use it, but just needed some practice. I have sewn silk, polyester, and linen with this and it sewed like a dream. Can't believe how good everything looks and it has really upgraded the look and quality of clothing I make. :)

  • Absolutely love this machine

I did a lot of research on sergers and this one does everything I needed to do. This does safety stitch, cover stitch rolled hems. I got it in the mail and within a short time I was sewing like crazy. This is sturdy and sews like a dream. The sergers that compare to the pro-5 start at $2600.00. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I have never used a serger so everything was new for me! Can not say enough good about this serger

  • Fantastic

Very easy to use, auto stich setup works great to get to the right stitch tension setting. Only minor adjustments may be needed depending on the project and fabric. Threading is easy though it is still a serger and there are some patience involved. Used a large gage yarn to big for the needles but perfect for the upper and lower loopers and it made wonderful decorative overedgeing. tension adjusted without issues. Did wonderful with denim and going through heavy seams as I really need that in my machines. Very nice with nits as well. Doing a coverstich was wonderful and was not difficult once I learned the correct settings for the project I worked on. Still need to work and learn how to used some of the optional feet that came with it but in all I love this machine.

  • Great serger for the money

This serger is not as complicated as others would have you think. The manual is very clear and there are threading tutorial you can down load not to mention the very easy iin structions in the print out workbook. Once you thread it once or twice its apiece of cake. Also the guide on the front of the machine on how to thread it for different types of stitches is great. Go ahead take the plunge all the different stitches you can do and the wonderful feet to help you are great. You would. Not be able to touch this value in another brand for less than $1500.
