Planting instructions
  • Grasses bloom best in full sun. Less vigorous with decreased flowering and tendency to flop in shady locations.
  • Tolerant of a wide range of soils from well-drained sandy soils to the heavy clays
  • Tolerant of summer heat and humidity
  • If you cannot plant immediately after receiving these plants, leave in pot, please place them in a cool shady, location
  • Before planting, water pot well. Work the soil 8" to 10" deep, into a good loose condition
  • Incorporate into the hole a mixture of good garden soil and compost
  • The soil line of the pot should match your soil line. Work the soil around the roots as you cover the plant. Be sure to pack the soil well.
  • Water well at the time of planting. Water every three to four days for the first two weeks and then at least an inch of water a week.
  • Plant 3' to 4' apart on each side
  • Apply fertilizer around the plant 2 weeks after planting
  • A little mulch around the base of the plants is recommended

Continuing care
  • Newly set plants need moisture so they can grow a new root system. Water at fairly long intervals in dry weather.
  • Clumps should be left standing throughout the winter for visual interest and to provide protection for the crowns
  • Cut back to the ground in early spring before new growth begins

  • Nothing like the picture

    I received 5 individual plants with 1 lonely spike in each small pot. Also, the spikes were taller than the box that they were shipped in...so, the plants were simply bent over and snapped! RUINED. I am waiting for replacements.
