Use them in patio containers for a pop of color or to line yard and garden walkways. They're easy to grow, thrive in partial shade and, our favorite, attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Planting instructions
  • If you cannot plant immediately after receiving a shipment of coral bells, leave in pot, place your plants in cool location. This will keep them safe for a few days.
  • The soil where you plan to plant your coral bells should be worked into a good loose condition to a depth of 8" to 10"
  • Incorporate, in the hole, a mixture of compost, good garden soil, peat moss, sand or well-rotted manure (whatever is available for a good loose growing medium)
  • Remove plant from pot and plant level with soil. Your plant should not be placed deeper than where the foliage and root join.
  • Fill hole and firm the soil and water well. Water every three to four days for the first two weeks and then at least an inch of water a week. Make sure there are no air pockets.
  • Coral Bells should be spaced 12" to 18" on each side
  • Cover with mulch to control weeds and retain moisture. Do not mound the mulch onto the stem.

Continuing care
  • Newly set plants need moisture so they can grow a new root system
  • Plants will rebloom without deadheading, however prompt removal of spent flowers improves general appearance
  • Fertilize in early spring

Winterizing instructions
  • A light mulch will benefit your Coral Bells
