Planting instructions

Water well to thoroughly hydrate each plant
Dig a hole twice as deep and wide as each plant's root ball
Remove plants from shipping pots
Prepare the root balls for planting by gently disturbing the surface roots and pruning damaged roots
Partially backfill the holes with soil and place a root ball inside each so that the tops are level with the ground surrounding the holes
Refill the holes with soil and firm the soil around the plants with your fingers
Water thoroughly

Continuing care

Maintain a consistent watering schedule during the first year; infrequent, long soakings that fully saturate the soil are best
As a rule of thumb, you should not allow the soil or the original root ball to completely dry out
During the first summer, you may need to water as often as every few days in periods of drought or extreme heat
If the soil is dry 2-3" below the surface, it is time to water
Be sure the area around plant has adequate drainage; if you plant in a container, choose one with drainage holes
Once established, agastache tolerate drought and require little watering
Keep the area around your plants free of weeds
Apply a 2-4" layer of mulch around plants to promote moisture retention, maintain even soil temperatures and discourage weed growth

Pruning

Remove spent flowers as blooms fade to maintain a tidy appearance and to promote continuous flowering
Do not cut agastache back in fall; during winter, the previous season's growth will act as insulation to protect the roots from cold damage
Cut each plant back to 6" or less in early spring; new growth will emerge as temperatures rise

Feeding instructions

Feed plants once every 2-3 weeks during the growing season with water-soluble fertilizer
Discontinue feeding after September 1st to allow plants to harden off for winter dormancy
Resume fertilizing when new growth appears in spring

Winterizing instructions

Watering thoroughly in late fall will greatly enhance your plants' cold tolerance once the ground has frozen
While winter hardy, agastache will benefit from a 6-8" layer of mulch in colder areas to protect the root system from cold damage
Containerized plants can be brought into unheated, protected areas like garages or cellars before temperatures drop below freezing
Check soil moisture every 2-3 weeks and water indoor containerized plants as needed during winter
In spring, remove mulch from in-ground plantings, and move containerized plants back outside

Pollinator magnet

I wasn't expecting much out of them this season but they surprised me. One of them is three feet tall and the other two close behind. Put them in containers outside my office window and can see a butterfly and a honeybee on them right now.

Happy

I've had these about 6 weeks. They arrived well packaged, well well watered and healthy. Two looked nice and bushy and have taken off beautifully in two containers at the front door with several blooms. The third was a single stem, but was the first to bloom. That went in the ground and still doesn't look much larger than when I got it. Overall, I'm happy because I really only needed the two, and if the third one gets going a little more, it's a bonus.

Healthy beautiful plants

Our plants arrived healthy and ready to perform. As always we unboxed them and gave them some quarter strength fertilizer after their journey to us. Then after about 5 days, we put them in our garden. We've kept them moist and they've done great. Highly recommended. This variety of mint gets kinda tall, around 3 feet tall, but it's a heavy bloomer with its blooming rivaling an annual but this is a perennial. Attracts beneficial pollinators.
