What It Does
Top Notes
- Bergamot - from Italy. Beautiful, luminous intro. Lemon with a lavender refreshing energy. Almost like when you grate the peel of a lemon and you smell your hands. Key note found in Earl Grey Tea.
- Aldehydes - like a sheer, fluid fabric. Almost effervescent. First introduced in Chanel N 5 fragrance.
- Amber - Ambergris - very rare, like a musk; a stone that floats on the sea and then lands on the beach.
Middle Notes
- Ylang-Ylang - smells like the sun in summer, like a day in Bali. Has a fruity, yet a little spicy scent. Fragrance used in oils for rituals in the hair, related to spirituality, chakra, ceremonies, weddings; Queen of the White Flower.
- Orris - from Italy. Simple luxury and elegance. Most expensive ingredient used in the fragrance. Has a creaminess - white and pure, almost like a cashmere sweater. It takes a long process to extract this ingredient, like a fine wine. Extraction process is passed down through generations, like a family secret.
- Rose - South of France. Gives movement to the fragrance and vibrancy. Very special. One ton of petals, which can fill a king size bedroom, boils down to ounce of oil.
Base Notes
- Musk - a blend of different musk, like a creamy cocoon; airy and lightness with a little bit of fruity undertones; long-lasting.
- Sandalwood - from India - you must wait for tree to be 100 years old before the oil can be extracted. Woody energy with creamy, white milkiness.
- Heliotrope - the finishing touch. Like a signature. Elegant and timeless. A boudoir effect, with a touch of powder. Great balance with orris and used in many French perfumes.
