I ordered this necklace in white. As it turned out, the 3 strands were too much for me. I tried a number of ways to wear it and almost talked myself into keeping it. After sleeping on it and trying again the second day, I decided to return it. Jewelry should be fun to wear and I don't want to spend a lot of time trying to make it work for me. If you want big and bold, this necklace is for you. The craftsmanship of the paper beads is stunning. I was sad to return it.

A desire to empower women galvanizes Akola founder Brittany Merrill Underwood. It's a calling that's led the socialpreneur to Uganda and Dallas where Akola, which means "she works" in a Ugandan dialect, fulfills that mission. In both places, women create distinctive jewelry featuring surprising materials like recycled glass and handrolled paper beads. In doing so, they become agents of change in their families and communities. Be part of the movement. Redesign your wardrobe with jewelry that has the power to redesign lives.
