  • The last Canada cent was struck on May 4, 2012
  • You receive 2 complete rolls of the Last Canada penny as well as a story card about the Canadian penny which includes an additional 2 pennies
  • The maple leaf represents a proud and distinctive Canadian symbol, appearing on all Canadian coins minted between Confederation and 1935. The modern 1-cent coin features two maple leaves on the same twig.
  • On July 30, 2012, the Honorable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, officially announced that the Mint will stop circulating pennies as of February 4, 2013
  • In the Economic Action Plan 2012, the government of Canada announced it will eliminate the penny from Canada's coinage system due to its declining purchasing power
  • While the cent will remain Canada's smallest unit for pricing goods and services, the Royal Canadian Mint will no longer distribute pennies as of Fall 2012
  • In removing its lowest denomination coin, Canada will follow on the successful experiences of many other countries, including Australia, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom

    I purchased these 2 rolls with story card for my grandchildren. The Canadians have also made beautiful coins over the years and now to own some of the last penny's minted will treasure their long years of production.
