Brrrrrrrr! Winter has officially arrived, and with it, for most of us, comes gloomy skies, snow, sleet, and frigid temperatures. But that doesn’t mean you need to bundle away your great style under all those bulky layers. Here are a few tips on how to look great while staying warm.

COZY COLORS

Just because the forecast is dark, doesn’t mean your winter wardrobe needs to be. While black might be in this season, don’t forget there are plenty of other color options. Try rich chocolates, ruby reds, or dark teals.

TEX MIX
This is the time of year when layers are essential, so play around with different textures. Chunky knits work well with lightweight camisoles. Or try a tweed skirt with a chic lace top or cashmere cardigan. Rich velvets also look great with satins. Experiment!

DOUBLE DUTY
Pile on the accessories for additional style and warmth. Bright, gauzy scarves are the best way to take a look from drab to fab, and keep you from feeling that winter chill. Just remember the texture and print of a bold scarf will set the tone for your entire ensemble—so neutrals can are an easy first step. Also in this season are wool and leather gloves with chic embellishments.

BOOT UP
Not only can a great pair of boots get you noticed, but also they can keep you warm. Be daring and try a pair in exotic metallic leather or a standout color. For really cold days and nights, throw on leg warmers underneath your boots. Choose a fun, contrast color, and allow them to peek out about and inch or so.

SLEEK AND STREAMLINED
While you may be tempted to pile on lots of bulky layers to avoid freezing, try and remember that when layering, thinner is always better. A sleek turtleneck with a cute button-down sweater will keep you just as warm and will make you appear thinner.

HAT TRICK
It’s a known fact that a hat is the best insulator, adding about 10% more warmth to your body. And it just so happens to be one this winter’s biggest trends. There are tons of styles to choose from – stylish knits, cloches, and berets are especially in right now.

HOT FOR HOSIERY
Another great way to look sexy and stylish without sacrificing your shiver factor – hosiery! Try a ribbed or wool pair with a pencil skirt or dress. Tights look great with heels or boots, and there are tons of patterns and colors to choose from this year. Step out of your box, and into a new tone of tights.

I LOVE MISS TINA AND KIM PARRISH I WOULD LIKE TO SEE TALLS IN SLACKS, JEANS,AND DRESSES. DIANE GILMAN HAS HEARD US WHEN IT COMES TO THE JEANS AND SLACKS BUT WE ARE WAITING FOR HER DRESSES TO BE BELOW THE KNEW. WHEN YOU ARE 5'10 A MINI IS NOT ALWAYS APPROPRIATE. I LOVE THE SHIRT DRESSES BUT CAN'T BUY BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO SHORT.

I would love to see dresses in petite sizes, particularly Gabriella Rossi and Kim Parrish. Also, more tops/dresses with sleeves would be appreciated, esp. by women 50+. Thanks! PS - Love the fact that Lloyd Boston is the style consultant. He brings depth and reason in a calm fashion.

I was sad to see the death of the original Diane Gilman line with washable silks and now it appears that Silk Assets has been terminated as well. Most of the new lines you've been bringing in emphasize knits, which I don't personally care for, and much of the clothing is very casual. Are you planning on introducing any new lines that address we professional women who can't wear casual knits or jeans to work? Thank you.
