Trends and More
Thanks for all the enthusiastic responses to my 1st blog last month. I have so many ideas to write about I really had to focus to bring this 2nd one into form. First of all, I hope you have been enjoying all the jewels you bought during the Tucson Gem Fair event.
As seen in Tucson, the trend of chocolate colored gems is still going strong. Keep your eyes out for new Smoky Quartz, one of the most affordable ways to have the trend in your wardrobe. Our Gem Buyer, Sandy, is bringing in as many quality chocolate color stones as possible. Fortunately, she knew the trend was coming (saw it in Europe and Tucson last year) so she was on it. It takes a long time to source the stones and have the jewelry created. One of my favorite rings right now is an oval gemstone ring with tigers’ eye on top. It’s luscious, isn’t it? I love how it is so simple, yet sophisticated. It will look like you have owned it for years as a signature collectible the first time you wear it. If you’d like some soft color with your brown, look at this beautiful rainbow colored gemstone necklace (296-823), a perfect year-round choice for mixing and matching. Rainbow Chalcedony is so pretty and easy to wear with all kinds of fashion.
Beads, beads, beads…you can never go wrong with great bead necklace to frame your face. Nomads from centuries ago used to wear their wealth around their necks and wrists. Do you know how? Their currency was beads! We have a rainbow of colors of bead strands to bold necklaces here. If you only wear solitary pendants, you should branch out this year! If you love your pearls, you will love other gems in beads.
This has been on my mind for a long time – the topic is birthstones.
To all my blog readers- what do you think about birthstones? How committed to your stone are you? Do you “substitute” other stones that are the same color like Smoky Quartz for Smoky Topaz if you were born in November? Or are you a die- hard rule follower? Does it even matter to you? If you like that emerald ring, so be it – even if you were born in July (ruby would be your traditional choice). And even though I can’t respond back, I love to see all your comments. It will give me ideas on what to write next time.
Speaking of which, someone asked me what rock I stood next to in the picture from the Tucson fair. That particular green rock is called Dioptase, which is native to Arizona. It was such a pretty green color!
Look for more blog entries from me soon!
Rock on! Shivan
