| Caramelized Onions Ingredients 3 pounds Spanish onions, peeled and thinly sliced 1½ tablespoon unsalted butter ¼ cup vegetable oil Directions Place a skillet over medium heat. When hot, add the butter and oil. Add the onions and stir. It is important to let the onions sweat before the sugar starts to caramelize. Cook until perfectly browned (not light but not too dark), about 40 minutes. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Can be refrigerated up to one week. |
