| | Then... The royal Borghese family dates back to the 1100s in Siena, Italy. Through the years, the Borgheses gained wealth and influence and became one of Italy’s most prominent families. | | | In 1605, Camillo Borghese became Pope Paul V. His nephew, Cardinal Scipione Borghese, completed the St. Peter’s Cathedral façade in Rome, along with sponsoring Bernini’s work, which is exhibited in the world-renowned Borghese Gallery in Rome. Since the Borgheses owned large territories of land, several in the family were granted royal titles by Pope Paul V, including Prince of San Paolo, Prince of Sant’Angelo and Duke of Bomarzo. Basically, titles represented land and possession titles. Over time, possessions and titles separated, either sold, given away or lost in battle. These days, the Borghese royal titles aren’t related to territories and property, but can be traced through the office of Araldica in Rome. It was Princess Marcella Borghese who began the family beauty legacy. After marrying Prince Paolo Borghese in 1937, she began having her cosmetics specially made, mostly from all natural ingredients. When her children reached adulthood and she had more time, she turned it into a business, thus beginning the Borghese beauty legacy. | Now... Today, HSN shoppers know the Borghese family from their high-end, luxurious bath and body products. Italian Bath & Body has won fans worldwide for its natural ingredients gathered from the Italian countryside. Princess Amanda Borghese and her son Prince Scipione draw upon their family’s long history in the beauty industry with their Italian Bath and Body lines Perlier and Elariia. Princess Amanda married Prince Francesco Borghese in 1965. She had three children: Scipione, Ilaria and Lorenzo. She’s created a number of successful businesses and is active in several charities, including Habitat for Humanity, City Harvest and Saint Anthony’s Breadline for the Homeless. Princess Amanda considers her family, friends and grandchildren to be her biggest joys. Prince Scipione “Skip” Borghese was born in Rome, Italy in 1967. At the age of six, he moved to Paris, France, before moving to the U.S. in 1978. In 1989, he joined the family business, making him the third generation of Borgheses in the beauty industry. In 2001, he married Katherine Melissa Long in the Borghese Chapel at Santa Maria Maggiore Church in Rome. Skip’s little brother, Prince Lorenzo Borghese, has also made a foray into the bath and body world, but with a twist. Inspired by his beloved dog Belle, Lorenzo developed Royal Treatment Pet Spa products. Following family tradition, Lorenzo’s line is filled with natural, gentle, luxurious ingredients. |
