I have a 14 year old cat that has thrown up on my "almost white" carpet and my pale taupe and white upholstery in several places and I have not been able to get the stains out completely;until I used this Bissell machine. The professionals got out the stains but let's face it ...I can't afford to call in the pros every time this happens so I decided to give this a try. With the return policy what did I have to loose,right? This will NOT be going back! It worked like it promised. It dries fast too...unless I have to really wet the area with the Oxi cleaner to let it soak out a more stubborn stain. I had an area in the office where the rolling desk chair sits that was pathetic! I had to use this on that area twice but it cleaned it up even better than when the carpet cleaning company did it. I am so glad I decided to give this a try this. It's a purchase I'm happy that I made.

DOES NOT WORK WELL / , VA   9/1/2009
I bought this in August and will be returning it because it does not work as it indicated on the television. If you have time to be on you hands and knees to use the hand brush, then this is for you. The ball does not pick up dirt at all, instead it just glides over the carpet. Mine is in the box to be returned today.

I am not impressed with this product. It does not do clean your carpet. i guarantee you will be returning it.

Not sure why the other reviews are so bad for this, maybe they expected a lot more. I cleaned my rugs on my hardwood floors and it worked beautifully. It was also very very easy to assemble and to use, it just glides along the rug, you do not have to do a lot of work! I am very satisfied with the purchase and the job that it did on my rugs! Thank you!

I bought this for my dad. Unfortunately it was not assembled until too late to return. The handle screws are tricky. If the machine turns on and off, you can bet the screws are not secure. I had to re-attach it to make it work correctly. The machine is worthless as a cleaner unless the soil is so light that you want to get a damp mop effect on your carpet. I have read that vacuuming frequently followed by damp mopping preserves the life of carpet. This is the only use I can see for this carpet cleaner. As another said, I was down on my hands and knees using the tools most of the time.

Nothing but problems with the cleaner..Power would go on and off..Then would not suck up water. Roller did not touch berber carpet so of course unable to clean..Its packed and being returned tomorrow. Do yourself a favor pass on this one. Worst carpet machine ever!!!!

Lovin'' this machine -- handy as a vacuum! / , CA   8/13/2009
I needed something to spot clean & handle light shampoo jobs on my carpets & area rugs. This machine's lightweight & easy to maneuver and works well, especially the brush attachment! Works as demonstrated on HSN! Cleans spots & leaves carpet barely damp, drying in just a few minutes. I've also used it to freshen carpets & mattresses with satisfaction. Buy one and show your family how it works-hopefully they'll do like my teens and clean their messes without me telling them to!

Neurotic machine / , VA   8/10/2009
After putting the machine together I turned it on, and nothing! I had not seen the demo, so I called HSN to make sure it had a motor! They confirmed, after checking, but suggested that I had not installed the handle properly. I re-did everything, and still, no power. Then my daughter gave it a thwak right on the Bissell logo and behold--power! Sadly the stains - drips of coffee and other food stains on the dining room carpet were immune to pre-treatment or repeated scrubbings. Why didn't I know it was too good to be true? I'll probably keep it because it's too much trouble to disassemble, package and send back.

I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS PRODUCT GOT SUCH A BAD REVIEW. I LOVE MINE. IT WAS VERY EASY TO PUT TOGETHER. I AM SURE THE TENNENTS BEFORE ME NEVER EVER CLEANED THE CARPET. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO PUSH IT. IT GOES BY ITSELF. ( I AM 68 YEARS OLD) EXTREMELY EASY TO USE. THE CARPET WAS REALLY DRY AND COMPLETELY CLEAN. DRIED IN 30 TO 45 MINUTES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

Not bad on rugs, terrible on furniture.    7/28/2009
I tried this immediately and was please with the results on my carpets. However I found the attachments,for cleaning furniture, sprayed out entirely too much water. The small section I did do left my cushion soaking wet but clean.
