I hate to get all "nostalgic" on you - but I this happens to me every November! 
As I prepare for the new My Favorite Things shows coming up on Nov. 9th and Nov. 12th......I'm reminded of the very first time I heard someone sing about favorite things!   As another birthday is fast approaching, this is the time of year I find myself looking back and reflecting on fond memories of days gone by...

It was a cold, blustery day in November of 1965 when, as a young girl, my mom took my three sisters and me to see a movie at the West Twins Theatre on Robert Street in W. St. Paul, Minnesota (admission was 50 cents!).  When the film started, we forgot all about the dreary weather outside, as we were riveted to the beauty, wonder and enchantment of this magical screen musical.  I'll never forget, after we arrived home from the movie, my mom promptly got out her scissors and cut all of our "bangs" to look like "Maria's" - not a pretty sight and I have the photos to prove it!

More than 40 years later...Just as "Maria" sang about her favorite things.....I am getting ready to share some of mine with you!

Join me Nov. 9th for 3 hours of My Favorite Jewelry....My Diva Ring, Vintage Lorgnette, Enameled Animal print ring and bracelets, diamond initial pendants, gemstone and diamond rings, a pave' jewelers loop (!); are a few of the things in my collection that make my heart sing!

Then on Nov. 12th, we have 2 hours of My Favorite Fashions....The show will feature beautiful holiday tops, sweaters, jackets and matching pants and jeans to help you get through the holidays looking and feeling fabulous!!

Answers to questions

Hi Joan in MI! The best way to clean marcasite jewelry is with a silver polishing cloth....You don't want to put marcasite in a jewelry solution as it can loosen the stones from the setting.  If you dampen the cloth slightly you may get better results.  Also, but sure to keep your marcasite in one of our anti-tarnish Prestige boxes - this way they won't tarnish!

I rarely see Suzanne S. on HSN anymore. I miss her and you together especially. You guys are a riot. Has she quit the HSN thing? Also, I would like to know your fav things in skin care. I have noticed you and a couple other hosts skin looks more fabulous than usual in the past year or so. Have you done anything new in the last year? Always look forward to your Favorite Things shows because usually your favs are my favs. Have you ever cosider creating a large jewelry armore with tarnish resistance. I, like you and I'm sure others, have a vast jewelry collection and have run out of ideas of how to gather up my goodies into one area. Also, it would be nice, but not sure how doable, to have an armoire that accommodates 500-1000 items, yet does not scream-I hold valuables-to potential thieves.

Colleen: I have viewed and had in my cart the Sterling Silver Drop Earrings in Lemon color. I left for a while and when I returned, all colors had sold out. I was soooo disappointed. I love Heidi Daus jewelry, and when watching a video on one of the earrings, you mentioned loosening the tension on her clip earrings. If customers knew how, believe there would be a lot more satisfied customers and less returns. If there is a simple tool, perhaps Heidi could include one in her packaging. Please pursue this for us. I have looked so forward to receiving your jewelers loupe pendant ever since you were having it made! I love it and it is quite pretty. My question is, is it a single, double, or triple lens? The view doesn't have any aplanatic abberation which means it's at least midgrade or higher but please let me know how many lenses it has so I know if i am seeing true colors without disassembling the loop to find out. Hi Colleen! I don't see my previous post so I'll try again. How do you clean pearls? I worry about the string getting wet....but my pearls can get sticky sometimes. I know not to put on perfume or hairspray after putting on my pearls. But they get dirty sometimes regardless. How can I clean them correctly? Thank you for the boxes. I have ordered many in the different sizes and shapes. I have divided my collection by color of metal and color of stone. I just filled the necklace boxes that I received recently and have one suggestion. Many of my necklaces have matching earrings. What I have done is put them in plastic jewelry bags and dropped them in the bottom of the drawer so that they are still visible. This might be an idea for an addition to the design. Thanks again.

Hi C...Love your boxes, but I do have a problem with the glue that holds the window. It has come undone on all my boxes, perhaps because summers in Manhattan are hot and humid. Anyway, it bothers me because, of course, the air can get in through those gaps and destroy the tarnish=prevention. Can you consider a better, stronger glue?

Colleen thank you for putting some of your favorite things early on the web. I will miss your Nov. 12 show due to the fact that I will be in school. I am a pre-service teacher and hopefully in Dec. 2009, I will be a teacher. I love your stuff and thank's again for always bringing us wonderful stuff at great prices.

Hi Colleen, Not sure if you received my email. I just have to ask about the red stone pendant that you are wearing in the photo blog. I missed out on item # 370-510 the huge ruby pendant - is that what you are wearing? Is there any way that HSN would bring back the ruby pendant? I also wanted to ask if I could email you a photo of a ring that I would like to know if HSN could copy or come up with a rendition of this ring? I would love for you to see this ring - it is unique. Ruthanne, check the bay for that ring. When push comes to shove, I have had to buy some of Colleen's tops that way if I missed them during the show. In the search box type Colleen Lopez and her items will come up. I have seen that ring there in the past. I hope no one minds I just suggested that but I know it's a bummer when you want something and you miss out.
