In 1863, the Parker brothers discovered gold in Naseby, near the end of the sun-bleached Maniototo Plain. The resulting rush would be familiar to a visitor from the American West, so would the humble wood-frame buildings that remain today, the landscape, and the names given to the mountains in the near distance: North Rough Range, Raggedy Range.

It's a good place to listen to the wind and to walk in the nearby forest. This vest provides plenty of reassuring warmth and core protection without the full bulk and weight of a jacket. Appealing vintage details are reflected in the cracked-leather finish and suede trim. Inside is soft Italian shearling fleece.
