I bought this and I do use it but it is terribly heavy. Now he comes out with a lighter weight cast iron pot. But unfortunately for me I do not have room to put anything else so am stuck with this. Why don't they think these things through before putting them on the market!!

Worst Cast Iron Pan I have ever used!!!... momof3boyz, NY Rating 12/19/2011
I just wanted to say how completely disappointed in this cast iron pan. The inside of the pan has discolored and I am so disappointed. Here I thought I was getting something great for the price. I bought a Lodge enameled cast iron pan and you are definintely getting a better product for the money. Do not buy this. You will be disappointed!!

Beautiful Kitchen Workhorse... Elizabeth23, UT Rating 12/18/2011
I LOVE this pot and I am a serious cook. I have to believe that even Julia herself would have wanted it as basic equipment in her own kitchen. I have it out on top of my stove because it is so Gorgeous, yet also so very practical that I want to use it whenever I can. Wolfgang's products are the BEST, and this is truly the BEST of the Best.

No Cadmium Concerns, Love these pots... Ecosmart, AZ Rating 11/26/2011
There are some reviews with comments concerning staining means a weak enamel resulting in the cadmium exposure. First, my pot does not stain, maybe they got a bad pot. Secondly, cadmium was used to color enamel prior to the 1970s, manufacturers no longer use it. The FDA prohibits imports using orange or red glaze with cadmium. More accurate and current information from the FDA, and Clemson, just do a search on the Internet.

Note: The enamel finish on cast iron cookware is extremely durable, but it can chip if it is banged or dropped on or against a hard surface. Please observe these tips to preserve the finish of your cookware:

  • Always allow cookware to cool to room temperature before cleaning
  • Do not use steel wool, abrasive cleaning pads or harsh cleaners
  • To remove stuck-on food, soak cookware in hot soapy water and use a plastic scouring pad or nylon brush
  • Use only silicone, nylon or wooden tools.  Do not use sharp metal utensils as they can damage the enamel coating.
  • When using a gas-burning stove, do not allow gas flames to rise up along the side of the pan
  • Never leave an empty piece of cookware on a hot burner or in a hot oven
