Pending you don't do something dumb i.e fork in cooker, you should be good to go for at least 2 years with this product the rice should be medium grain is the only thing I feel needs to be included. If so, it will be perfect rice each and every time. Always a pleasure with Puck :

Rice Cooker but so much more!!!!... PearllyQ, ND Rating 2/24/2012
I bought this rice cooker for my son, who moved into his first place he has wanted a rice cooker for awhile, then I saw the one I wanted. My son is a cook dining supervisor at a Air Force Base and loves cooking. He has told me many many times how much he loves it. He said it's not only a rice cooker it does so much more. I would recommend it. Get the cookbook also the Sushi Rice receipe is like my son say the bomb. He made califonia Sushi rolls and they were awesome!!!

This rice cooker is not just great for rice it cooks great soup and chill. It is very friendly also for the kids. My ten year old loves rice and he uses it by himself. I have had it a week and have used it four times already.

Great while it lasted... MichelleInTexas, TX Rating 12/29/2011
But it only lasted 5 months. Went to use it today and it turned on fine, went to check on it 20 minutes later and nothing. No steam, not even warm anymore still had light on cook though. Opened it and sure enough partially cooked, tried to unplug and turn on again and then the light wouldn't even come on. Did I get $40 bucks worth of food out of it...not likely.
