Behind the Scenes at Ken Paves LA Salon

It is about 9am, Monday May 13th, and I am in a car in NYC.  I took the red eye in from LAX.  I can’t wait to check into the hotel.  I have been in this car for over an hour.  It usually doesn’t take this long to drive from the airport into Manhattan.  The driver just turned on his GPS.  He just admitted that he has no idea where he is going.  I have been up for about 24 hours, and the false lashes the make up artist put on are starting to peel off the corner of my right eye.  But, my hair still looks fabulous!  I wonder, how long can I go without washing it?  Ken Paves gave it a Boost.  Let me start from the beginning.

Sunday, May 12th, 9am.  I arrive at Ken Paves’ Beverly Hills salon for our shoot.  The salon is already bustling, and not just from the camera crew setting up.  Everyone is really excited about Ken’s new idea, ‘Boost’.  The master of temporary hair has created temporary color!  I can’t wait to see the results.  But first, I have to go through make-up and the director wants to look at my wardrobe options.  I hope it doesn’t take too long…I really want to try Ken’s new product.

Some time around noon, in walks Ken, full of energy and ready to go.  Finally, we get a chance to sit down and talk about Boost.  I think you’ll agree; Ken’s idea is genius.  He explains that Boost is a product that can temporarily change the hue of your color.  Richer, deeper, brighter, the choice is ours.  This is when the question and answer period begins.  I ask Ken every question I can think of and every question that I think you might want answered.  Is it permanent or even semi permanent?  No.  It is a new version of your hair color on demand.  In one day, out the next.  It is entirely up to us.  Is it full of harsh chemicals, like ammonia, as is found in most other hair color products?  No.  Will it stay in all day?  Yes.  Does it start to fade as the day goes on?  No.  Can I use styling products with it?  Yes.  How does it come out?  Shampoo.  Ken, it sounds like the same concept as make-up.  Lipstick, blush and now hair color?  Yes.
Well, soon enough, Ken will give me a Boost.

Some time around 3pm, we are finally ready to start working on my hair.  Ken and I quickly agree that my hair could use a Boost.  It is a new season, my hair clearly hasn’t been colored for a while (I am long overdue) and as a result it looks dull.  Ken applies Boost to my hair and he is ready to blow dry.  I can’t believe the color!  It is a richer, deeper version of my hair color.  My highlights still come through, and my roots don’t look so obvious.  (Thank goodness.)  The color saturation is flawless.  It looks like it could be my every day color.  No one would ever know that it is temporary. It looks very natural.  And, it feels so silky and smooth.

Sunday, 7:30pm, and we are finished shooting.  Ken offered to drop me off at my hotel, which was really nice.  My flight leaves at 10:20pm, so I have to quickly change, pack and head to the airport.

Monday, May 13th – I am finally in my hotel room.  I was in the car for just over two hours.  Even after a long flight, my hair still looks great.  The color is sensational.  I can’t wait for you to try it.  I think that you’ll like it for many reasons.  First of all, I can tell you from my own experience that it definitely helps with overgrown roots.  Let’s face it; hair color is the most expensive service at the hair salon.  Boost is an excellent way to help camouflage roots and extend the time between hair appointments.  That is a huge money and time saver.  I think you’ll also love it for the variety.  I think most of us are afraid of commitment when it comes to our hair color.  But sometimes, we just want a change.  A pick me up.  A boost.  Ken delivers without the commitment.  And, the application is very easy.  So change your hair color for that job interview or date.  Why not?  You can wash it out of your hair the next day.

My husband just walked in the door.  Big hug.  And he noticed my hair.
Why wouldn’t he?  Ken Paves gave me a Boost.

So that’s my most recent fun and fab hair-color story…now tell me yours! Have you had any hair-color disasters, do you change your color w/the season?

Hi Diana. I have hair disasters every time I go to the salon. Never get what I want and I don't know why. I wish I knew of someone in this area who could give the right cut for me (like on What Not To Wear). I can't imagine how exciting it would be to go to New York to have Ken do my hair. To me, that sounds like being treated like a princess.
