A REALLY GREAT CHEESEBURGER
Serving Size: 4
Ingredients
½ pound ground chuck
½ pound ground sirloin
salt & pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons soy sauce
4 slices cheddar or American cheese
unsalted, butter, melted as needed
4 hamburger buns
lettuce, tomato & condiments
Directions
  1. In a large mixing bowl combine the chuck and sirloin. Season with salt and pepper and mix thoroughly. Shape into 4 patties.

  2. Heat a cast-iron skillet until hot. Add the patties to the pan and press down, using the back of a metal spatula. Add the soy sauce to the pan and cover the pan immediately with a lid or heatproof plate. Cook about 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom. Remove the lid and turn the burgers over. Cover and cook 2 minutes more.

  3. Remove the lid and place the cheese slices on top of the burgers. Cover the pan again and cook for 1 minute longer or until the cheese has melted.

  4. Meanwhile, lightly butter and toast the buns. Top the toasted buns with the cheeseburgers. Garnish with condiments.
Note
Using all sirloin would significantly reduce the fat in this burger, however, low-fat ground turkey is necessary to really reduce the fat content. Again, low-fat or fat-free cheese helps save your arteries! The buns can also be sprayed with olive oil rather than buttered, to further reduce the calories.
