Fireplace/Heater... Mskippy, FL Rating 12/21/2010
We live in South Central Florida and these past few years it has been the coldest winters I have seen! Weeks of of 12-15 degrees, for 2 solid weeks at night in 09. This heater cabinet is built well and looks very nice. The heater I am not sure about, it heats good but only using for heat about 3 months total the flame unit is jamming up and squeaking when not jammed, not even one year old. I would recommend but the price is high for quality of heating unit. It does heat very well, a large room 20x20'.

Not at all as it should be!!!... SissyD, TX Rating 12/13/2010
this unit did not work like it should..it kept cutting off and then would not come back on. It is too big and bulky to return and I did not keep the box....the reset does not work properly. I now have a $400 heater that throws heat for about 15 minutes then cuts off and does not throw much heat. Not like the true Amish heater my neighbor has...it heats her whole room which is same size as mine.

Heat Surge... biglegs, NC Rating 6/26/2010
I have a small office in my basement and this heater is perfect in the winter time for keeping the chill out of the office. It uses very little electricity and that makes using it very worth while.

Best $$ EVER spent... IMADJ2, VA Rating 6/26/2010
Just bought a house and I REALLY love fireplaces but my new house did not have one so I bought the heat surge with the corner bookcase and was SOOOOOOOO impressed that I bought a second one. The one with the mantle and mirror for another room. I use them all the time, the ambience in the summer and all of it in the winter..they really do DO what they say as well as the amazing quality. Keep it up HSN with such wonderful quality products.

Helpful Tips:

  • The remote sensor is found behind the black grate on the front right-hand corner of the fireplace. If the remote control is not working, reposition the angle of the remote toward this sensor.

  • Not using the remote control for a long period of time may cause the remote sensor to go into hibernate mode. Press the "on/off" button on the remote a couple of times to "wake up" the sensor and return to regular remote control use.
  • Simply unplugging the fireplace and plugging it back in also resets the remote sensor
