Continuing Care for Strawberries:
- Because strawberries need full sun, it is important to give your planters a half turn twice weekly.
- Spring Hill's Advanced Formula Plant Food can be added every 2-3 weeks for optimum growth and fruit production.
- Monitor the moisture of your soil carefully because containers tend to dry out quickly. You want the soil to remain damp but not soggy.
- For best results, remove blossoms until July 1 of the first year; this will allow for better root development and will result in a bigger crop of berries.
- During the winter months, when temperatures will fall below freezing, move your strawberry planters into an unheated garage or cool basement and water enough to keep the soil from drying out.
- When the weather warms in the spring, bring your planters out in the sun and fertilize.
