Holiday Fashion

Style Expert/Author, Before You Put That On

Not sure what to wear to all the holiday parties and dinners you have on your plate this season? Here are some of my quick tips and tricks for staying stylish during this fun, festive time of year.

The failsafe
If you’re in a pinch for time, throw on a knee-length black dress for a classic, elegant look.

The cinch
To cover up a few extra holiday pounds, try an empire-waist dress or one that gathers at your mid-section.

The finishing touch
For accessories, this year it’s all about patent leather and metallic. Try either trend in small doses if you aren’t sure how to wear them. Add a red or black patent clutch to spruce up your look, or a gold metallic stiletto for some added glamour. A patent belt or pair of gloves can also go a long way.

Oh cozy nights
If you’re looking to go a more casual route, pair your look down with a cashmere cardigan or scarf-as-belt in winter white, animal print, red, or black velvet.

Flat out simple
Stay right on trend by opting for a great jewel-encrusted flat instead of a heel. Patent and animal print version, also make casual denim look fun!

Shine on sister!
Don’t forget to jazz up your ensemble with some sparkling jewelry! Imagine a stack of six enameled bangles. Stack them with simple looks, or wear just one for elaborate ensembles.

Do’s are a don’t
Save time – throw your hair up and put on a pair of cascading earrings. Remember; wear what works best for you and what makes you feel great!

I really like the idea of the flats. I'm not hot on heels and I never know what to wear to compensate. Also, I'm going to get out my bangles.
