FAQs for Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™
1. How do Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ work? Fruits and vegetables release ethylene gases during the natural ripening process after harvest. Exposure of the produce to these gases accelerates aging and deterioration. Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ are made with a natural mineral that helps create a beneficial storage environment and extends the life of fruit and vegetables. Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ also contain a natural freshness agent that helps to keep baked goods fresh as well. Store on the counter or in the fridge, wherever you would normally keep your produce.
2. Where are they made? Proudly made in the USA.
3. How should I choose my produce? Choose the freshest produce you can and examine carefully for signs of bruising (bruised produce will rot more rapidly) and possible signs of mold. In particular, with strawberries and similar items, turn the container over and examine the bottom berries for signs of squashing, damage or mold growth. The Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ do not reverse the ripening process. The boxes slow down the ripening process. Ripening is subject to local conditions like heat, humidity, light/dark etc.
Moisture is a natural part of produce and breads and moisture may occur in the box. If you see this just dry the moisture in the box with a paper towel. All produce contains moisture. So, the exact length of time produce will last in the boxes depends on these conditions. It also depends on how ripe the produce was or how fresh the bread was when it was placed in the box, and how long it has been preserved in transit or in the store before you bought it.
4. Why does moisture sometimes build up in the boxes? There are several possible reasons for excess moisture build-up in the Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™. One cause is wet produce (washed and not completely dried), or produce that has been watered by retail outlets to give produce a fresher look. Another is produce purchased at a farmer's market or picked fresh from the garden. Fresh produce tends to be warm, usually in excess of 80 degrees. Warm produce placed in a cool box causes condensation, the same as cool produce placed in a warm box! Finally, all produce naturally contains water and will release some as it ages and ripens.
5. What should I do if I see moisture? Simply wipe out the box with a paper towel and regularly check for moisture build up and wipe it out whenever it develops. This will ensure effective preservation.
6. How long will my produce last? This depends on the age and condition of the produce and baked goods when you bought them. Some produce travels great distances over a period of time to get to the supermarkets. Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ will help to extend the life of produce and baked goods compared to regular storage methods. Remember, for best results, the produce must be dry and in the early stages of ripening. Test them yourself by keeping some produce in the boxes and some out. Store on the counter or in the fridge, wherever you would normally store them.
7. How do I know that Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ work? Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ are independent laboratory tested for efficacy.
8. How many Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ have been sold? There are well over three million Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ in use.
9. Why do reviews vary? There are various possibilities: Primarily, not following the instructions, and possibly buying produce or bread that is old, damaged or about to rot once it leaves the market. Unreasonable expectations may be another reason. The Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ do not reverse the ripening process. The boxes slow down the ripening process.
