The Series of 1935 $1 Silver Certificates was America's last bank note without the motto "In God We Trust," while the Series of 1957 $1 Silver Certificates was America's first bank note with the motto "In God We Trust" as well as the last $1 bank note backed by silver. These bank notes are fascinating pieces of history, which disappeared from circulation up to 50 years ago.
