2006 Sacagawea Golden Dollar 2-Coin SetItem: 210-957
Add the Satin-Finish 2006 Sacagawea Golden Dollars to your collection. The unique satin finish is a brand new way to collect the Sacagawea golden dollars. The U.S. Mint sandblasted the dies with glass to produce this historic finish, which makes these coins easily distinguishable from the uncirculated coins. The Sacagawea dollar is called by many America's forgotten coin, because it has never been widely accepted or used as day-to-day currency. It was first minted in 2000 and is our first golden coin as well as the first circulating coin to feature an identifiable Native American. The coins are encapsulated in an acrylic lens to preserve their beauty and condition. Sacagawea was the Native American guide who accompanied the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804-806 on their quest to find a route to the Pacific Ocean. The coins depict Sacagawea with her baby, Jean Baptiste. The back of the coin features an American eagle in flight as well as 17 stars. This unusual number of stars symbolized the 17 states in the Union at the time of her journey with the expedition. The Sacagawea 2-Coin Set Features:
