  • The Sacagawea Golden Dollar was first minted in 2000 and is America's first golden colored coin as well as the first circulating coin to feature an identifiable Native American.
  • Beginning in 2009, the reverse of the Sacagawea dollar was changed to memorialize Native Americans and their contributions to the history and development of the United States.
  • Obverse design - based on Sacagawea Dollar coin design; remains the central figure of the "Sacagawea" design first produced in 2000 and contains the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. Sacagawea was the Native American guide who accompanied the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Design depicts Sacagawea with her baby, Jean Baptiste, on her back
  • Reverse design - varies per year; 2009 design depicts a Native American woman planting seeds in a field of corn, beans and squash. The scene represents the Three Sisters method of planting 
  • Uncirculated and Proof condition
  • Satin Finish - distinctive from regular coins because the dies are sandblasted with a fine mixture of sand and glass beads; called "burnish finish;" also known as Specimen State (SP)
  • Measure approx. 26.5mm (0.29 oz.) in diameter
