2006 Monticello Commemorative Currency Set Includes:
- (3) 24K gold-plated Return to Monticello nickels - from both the
Philadelphia and Denver mints
- 2006 Sacagawea Golden Dollar - first minted in 2000, it is the first
circulating coin to feature an identifiable Native American. Sacagawea was the
guide who accompanied the Lewis and Clark Expedition and the coin depicts
Sacagawea with her baby, Jean Baptiste, on her back.
- Original "Red Seal" $2 U. S. Note in display wallet - a classic $2 United
States Note that shows a portrait of Jefferson on the front and Monticello on
the back. The $2 United States Note was last made in the series of 1963 and has
been out of issue for more than 40 years. It is remarkable because of the
distinctive red seal and serial numbers on the front.

the first forward-facing portrait of a President on a circulating coin and is
based on an 1800 painting by artist Rembrandt Peale
- Part of the Westward Journey series - Return to Monticello is the last
nickel in the Westward Journey series, a commemorative nickel series to
celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Jefferson was President in 1806 when the Lewis and Clark Expedition
returned from their historic westward journey.
