Historically speaking, the Marine Corps Silver Dollar is the
first the U.S. Mint has ever issued commemorating any branch of the
military. Honor your favorite Marine with this special collector's item.
Our gift-boxed double offering was minted to celebrate the 230th anniversary of
the U.S. Marine Corps.
The stunning obverse design features a rendition of Associated Press
photographer Joe Rosenthal's historic photograph, which shows the raising of an
American flag by the United States Marines atop Mount Suribachi on the Japanese
island of Iwo Jima. Taken on February 23, 1945, it is believed to be the most
reproduced image in the history of photography. The coin's reverse features the
official emblem of the United States Marine Corps.
Each dollar is encapsulated in a clear acrylic holder to preserve its
beauty and condition. The set is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The Proof-70 coin is deep cameo, and the MS70 coin is in perfect Uncirculated
