1999 Yellowstone National Park Proof Silver Dollar

Pay tribute to Old Faithful and the countless natural sites and wild life afforded by our national parks with the 1999 Yellowstone National Park Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar. This coin specifically honored the 125th anniversary of the establishment of Yellowstone, the country's first national park. Proceeds from the original sale of this coin, however, went to Yellowstone as well as to national parks all over our great nation so that our kids and their kids can enjoy what we have today. 

1999 Yellowstone National Park Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar Features:

• The last silver commemorative dollar to be issued by the United States Mint in the 20th Century (before the start of the new millennium)
• Obverse - designed by Edgar Z. Steever, IV, shows a spouting geyser with the park's tree-lined landscape in the background
• Reverse - adapted from the U.S. Department of Interior's seal and designed by William C. Cousins, shows an American Buffalo on the plains with a sun rising above the mountains in the background
• Proof coins - made specifically for collectors by the United States Mint; struck on highly polished coin blanks, giving them their mirror-like finish; proof coins are never intended for circulation 
• Measures approx. 38.1mm (1-1/2") in diameter
• Weighs approx. 26.73g (.944 oz.)
• Contains 90% silver
