The 1982 George Washington Half Dollar marked the first commemorative coin since 1954 and ushered in the era of modern commemoratives. Honoring the 250th Anniversary of the birth of George Washington, this half dollar was also the first 90% silver coin produced by the U.S. Mint since 1964 and the only commemorative half dollar to be minted in all silver. The front features a young George Washington on his horse, while the reverse has Mount Vernon, Washington's Virginia home.

Our special proof edition coin was struck at San Francisco and signed by Donna Pope, the 33rd Director of the U.S. Mint. Pope is credited with bringing back the popular commemorative coins program. The deep cameo  PR-69 coin is encapsulated in clear acrylic to preserve beauty and condition.
