Alan Skantze is from Detroit, Mich., and loves Motown music. While earning his degree in mass communications from Arizona State University, Alan dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. Alan learned retail by knocking on doors and selling small parcels of real estate (cemetery plots) and worked as a radio and TV announcer prior to HSN.
Alan loves to golf, sailing, fishing and watching baseball. On a full moon evening, he can be found sailing Tampa Bay, watching the dolphins as the moonlight dances on the waves. He enjoys coaching his son’s Little League games and playing cards. The best times for Alan are Sunday barbeques with his family. As HSN’s "coin guy," Alan researches the history behind U.S. coins and is building his own collection – with his son’s help. He lives by the saying, "when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade."
