Orange Cream Sherbet
This is my son Max's favorite ice cream!
Ingredients
1 teaspoon imitation orange flavoring or 1 ½ teaspoons grated orange rind
1 cup sugar
¼ cup water
1 cup no-pulp orange juice
2 cups half and half
Orange food coloring (optional)
Directions
  1. Combine the orange flavoring (or rind) with the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and cool.


  2. Pour this mixture into a bowl and stir in the orange juice and half and half. If the milk curdles slightly, it will not alter the taste or texture once frozen. Cover and refrigerate until cold.


  3. Pour mixture into your ice cream maker and freeze according to the directions.
